The best shoe style for you will really depend on what you prefer for style and function. Maybe you’re in the mood for summer shoes, maybe you want to bargain hunt for winter shoes off-season. Here are a few examples of clothing sites for all styles and preferences so you can find the one you want.

Cole Haan

Cole Haan has been around since 1928, but they have kept up with the times as well. The Internet seems to especially focus on them for their shoes. You can contact them at 800-695-8495 for help. They even have something interested called the Odyssey project which seems to be about issuing hashtag challenges to customers who post pictures of trips and vacations they took.

  • Free Shipping If You Spend $175-Spend this amount or more, and you get free 2-day shipping on your products.
  • $5 Flat Rate for All Other Ground Shipping-If you don’t spend enough to get free shipping, you can still get it for just $5 through Cole’s ground-shipping deal.
  • Free Returns and Exchanges-You don’t have to worry about paying extra if you want to get a refund or turn in clothing for something else.
  • 24/7 Phone Support-You can call Cole anytime day or night for questions about their clothing line.
  • ShoeFitr Virtual Size Recommendations-On pages for shoes such as the one for the ZeroGrand Wing Oxford, you can click on the little box right underneath the Size selector that mentions recommending your size. It will ask you a few questions about your size, and then give you a recommendation for size based on the specific shoe your looking at currently.

Sperry Top Sider

Sperry sells a variety of footwear from canvas to boat shoes to rain boats. Many seem aimed at children, and some at higher-end categories for adults.

  • Free Shipping-Sperry offers free shipping as well through the site, though they don’t have any extra cost associated with this. The deal only applies to the continental United States. There’s a $10 charge for air service to other areas.
  • Easy Free Returns-You can use the return form that comes with your shoes, and then peel off the address label and shipping label on the carton they came in. Then you can ship it back to the site through USPS for no charge.
  • Monthly Free Shoe Giveaways-You have to sign up with the email program to get this, but you could win free shoes this way if you monitor your email and don’t mind getting coupons for shoes frequently.

Clarks is a shoe store that goes back to 1825 in Somerset in England. They have a number of shoes including originals and their Bostonian line.

  • Special Sales like 2 Pairs for $99-There are often package sales at Clark such as buying 2 pairs of shoes for under $100.
  • Bostonian Style Shoes-There are a number of comfortable black leather shoes in this line that go from between $80 to $110 or so. This price will often just depend on whether the particular shoe is on sale or not.
  • Beeswax Leather-Another unique shoe is the Jink which goes for $110 and has stitched Beeswax leather on top.
  • Extensive Reviews-Many customers will give a wide range of reviews on the site for shoes such as the Jink. Their opinion will include a rating for comfort and quality. There's enough variety and negative reviews on the site to make them look genuine. The reviewers even add info about their name, gender, length of ownership and location as well as whether they plan on using the shoe for business or casual purposes.

Head to Head

One of the things that Cole Haan is most known for is their shoes. An example is the Zero Grand Wind Oxford which goes for $268. There are literally 20 different colors you can choose for this shoe. The shoe is known for being lightweight and flexible with an EVA midsole. It’s especially designed for shedding water after a storm.

Examples of pricing on Sperry include their boat shoes which are all $95 just about. Some, like the Gold Cup Authentic Original is more at $160. Another signature shoe for Sperry is their Washed Canvas line of bright blue and red shoes which go for $55-$60. Many of the boots go for $100 or so. But few go for as much as what Cole Haan charges for their special water-shedding signature Zero Grand line.

The Bostonian line of shoes from Clarks goes for $100 or so. An example is the Hewett Black Leather shoe. This particular shoe emphasizes extra padding at the collar and tongue.

Overall, Sperry and Clarks have lower prices than the signature line from Cole Haan by far. They both seem to have similar cost points for shoes.

Cole Haan has a contact link at the bottom left corner of the main site. This gets you to a form email page. The site claims they’ll return your email within one business day. The comment is limited to 125 characters though. The site especially has nice features for shoes, such as the Shoefitr option which can help you decide what size you need for a specific shoe.

Support features through Sperry are more simplistic since they just have a listed email address and a phone number with hours that go to 10 PM on weekdays and 10PM on weekends. This will let you write longer emails then the form limit at Cole Haan, however.

The contact link for Clarks is at the bottom of the main page and it gives you a contact form. You can also call them at 800-211-5461 until 8 PM EST on weekdays and until 4 on Saturday.

Overall, email response seems the most prompt from Cole Haan. Sperry definitely has far more customer hours for their phone line than the other options if you prefer to get support that way.  All of the sites appear to have free return programs of some variety. The one at Clarks is for 90 days.
